MLB 2010 Cy Young Awards
AL Cy Young Award
Winner: Felix Hernandez
Reason: 1st in IP, 2nd in K, 2nd in WHIP, 1st in ERA
Felix had 35 more K’s than Sabathia, and 44 more than Price. His WHIP was .13 lower than both Sabathia and Price, and his ERA was 2.27 compared to 2.72 for Price and 3.18 for Sabathia. So I think that all of these outweigh him having 8 less wins than Sabathia and 6 less wins than Price.
NL Cy Young Award
Winner: Roy Halladay
Reason: 1st in Wins, 1st in IP. 2nd in K, 3rd in ERA, 2nd in WHIP
Slightly beats out Adam Wainwright. Halladay had 1 more win, 6 more K’s, 20 more innings, and a WHIP that was .01 better. Halladay’s ERA was .02 points worse than Wainwrights. Plus Halladay’s team is in the playoffs.
